Thanks Everybody--as for my trees, they are doing GREAT! My Ponkan had some of the best tasting mandarins I ever tasted last yr--same for my miewa kumquats. My lemon is doing better now--the winter of 2009/2010 had caused it to drop all lemon leaves and as a result I only got 2 lemons last yr. I got it thru the winter of 2010/2011 with no damage and have a good crop. My Moro blood orange has done great and provided me oranges into April last season.
Thanks to Dr Manners, my avocado graft has taken off unbelievably! The tree is only in the 4th growing season from seed--planted directly in the ground, grafted after just one season, the tree is now over 10 ft tall and was loaded with avocados--it still has 4, but I did not notice how hot and dry it got during the heat wave and it dropped most. That is the Mrs. Holland--it went right thru the cold we had last winter--at least 4 spells of temps in the low 20s--without any protection at all--and no damage at all.
My peach tree had a great crop and they were delicious, my apple--with 5 varieties has a few Fuji apples maturing. My bananas are doing good, but got hit by last winter's cold--I had a stem of 92 Raji Puri bananas, but could not get them thru the winter.
