You know that pistachio are difficult to graft, difficult to root and very expensive to buy (here in France a few nurseries sell some for 100 each ($137)!)
This winter I tried this method :
http://www.greffer.net (sorry that's in french).
One year ago I bought 4 Pistacia terebinthus in a forest nursery. I repoted them.
This winter (january) I put the pistachios in an old aquarium with a heating cable. I put an ultrasonic fogger too.
The temperature was maintained above 21C - 70F
When the trees began to grow, I grafted pistacia vera onto them.
I didn't cut the rootstock until the graft was strong enough.
I used chip budding technique and for one whip technique.
Now I have got 4 pistachio trees ready to grow.
