I just noticed on my thompson pink g-fruit and on my meyer lemon, some of the leaves (more mature ones) are heart shaped. This is pretty odd since it's happening to two different fruit trees, they are about 30' apart. They don't appear to be damaged, it just seems like someone cut them down alongside the center vein and they were sewn in this pattern. Like I said, they aren't damaged, chewed, wrinkled or discolored; they just grew like that as far as I know. I've been spraying on a regular basis, and also spraying with home-made insect soap since I regularly see fine strands of web scattered across my meyer. I've been "soaping" the rest of the trees as a precaution.
What could be causing this? Any ideas or suggestions? Or is this just some odd thing that I shouldn't worry about?
Also, since I am thinking about it, what pest causes leaves to be curled in a boat shape (curling downwards with the underside being the "living area") with webbing like a spider, almost reminds me of a cocoon? Is this mites or something else that escapes me?
Thanks in advance!
Christine
