Hi everyone,
I seem to be dealing with some minor scale. And I think I saw a couple aphids on one of my potted meyers.

Everything I've read says that vedalia beetles can knock these things out, but nobody sells them commercially. Another site I said is that they're pretty established here in california... is that why it's not really available for sale?

My local nursery sells little plastic containers of live lady bugs... will any lady beetle work, or is it just the vedalia?

Thanks,
Kristin

Vedalia beetle only eats cottony cushion scale. It will starve to death before it will touch any other prey.

Why don't you just spray the tree with a 1 percent Horticultural Oil solution? Horticultural Oils are totally non toxic, and are the standared application for scale. They also kill aphids and mealy bug. - Millet

I started finding these in during the winter, soon after purchasing the tree. I've been smashing them manually. Since the tree is small, it doesn't take long to inspect the entire tree and every leaf. Unfortunately, they keep coming back. I guess I'll try the oil trick.

Based on my research, these are Cottony cushion scale.
