My mother has a few pits she kept cause she is so impressed with my citrus, she wants me to try those for her! I just did a very brief search, and it seems they aren't too far way from what citrus are like.

But her pits may not be good anymore, she left them out to dry, and I read that they aren't viable after 2 days of drying.

Anyone have these in their yards or in pots?

I have an air-layered Sweetheart lychee growing right now along with one small seedling planted nearly 2 years ago. They are pretty easy to start from seed. Try your seeds, they will either come up or they won't. If not, you'll have to wait a few more months until they come into season. Pretty slow growing from seed though. If you really want a plant and one to fruit soon, order a grafted Emperor lychee. Slow growing and great from container growing. Good luck!

I have a small 3 foot lychee also. I grew it from fresh seed. But i have also read that seeds have to be fresh as possible.Try soaking them in warm water for a few days. Then use the heat mat method.

I have two trees; one bloomed last year but did not set fruit.

I started a thread many months ago called "Lychee Lessons Learned" which is now back on page three of this forum section. That thread might be helpful.

I don't grow Lychees, though I have looked into doing so since I love the fruit so much. They will have to wait though, I'm having enough trouble with my citrus training! Let us know how it goes.
