Snow storm number 6 started today. Presently we have 16-20 inches of snow on the ground. This new storm is supposed to drop another 16-25 inches of new snow. That will provide us with 35+ inches. Should be an outstanding wheat crop come spring. Global warming?????? - Millet |

Patty,
They are all out of milk and eggs cause the cows are giving ice cream and the hens are laying frozen eggs... have to boil them just to get them room temp.. LOL
I remeber staying with a friend in southern CO one fall.. we had to get up @5 am to (hand) milk and gather eggs.. it was freakin cold then.. I can't imagine having to do it with that much snow.. though the snow would provide some insulation and not be so windy in the barn.. just getting TO the barn that would be a problem..
Hope you are well stocked up Bob!!!
Stay warm!!!

Wonder how many roofs collapsed with all that weight! Millet, are you or Citrus Joe worried about your greenhouse roof? I'd hate if you were sitting under your banana tree sipping hot chocolate & you got bambarded! _________________ Patty

Snow storm number 7 started today. I talked to my neighbor Citrus Joe, and he said the white "canyon" that his drive way goes through to get to his garage, is now so high that he can no longer see over the top. We received another 8 inches today. The wheat farmers are loving it. - Millet |

You are getting all our snow LOL. It was 54* today. Ski hills are losing money, people have been golfing a lot. Some people have tulips & spring flowers coming up. _________________ Patty

We're being burried in snow up here. Hardest winter in awhile. In the month of dec... we had more snow than we did all last winter. fun storm outside right now. about 4" so far today and no signs of stopping.
We need it for spring, to avoid the horrific fire seasons we've had... sure sucks when shovelling it though |

We have had one day when it went to slightly below freezing. With the warm weather, some of the citrus is breaking dormancy. This can be a big problem if we get a hard freeze. I hate to think of what will happen if a late freeze hits the Florida citrus belt, and it looks to me like conditions may be setting up to do just that. I also hate to see one hit here - we grow a lot of cold sensitive plants locally, but at least it won't affect my livelihood. |

Just got a call from my son who lives in Centennial, suburb of Denver. He said it has been brutal there and for a kid born and raised in Minnesota who loves the outdoor winter scene that's saying a lot. He said there is at least 50 inches of snow in his yard, he lives on a cul de sac that hasn't been plowed except by a neighbor with a snow blower, garbage hasn't been picked up for two weeks and his mail is sporadic. That's bad, and this kids house is not in a ghetto neighborhood! I guess the result of too much too fast and he said they are supposed to get more this weekend. Uff Dah! Millet how are things in your neighborhood? _________________

Hi Joan, I should send you a fresh fig!! I'm about 40 miles east of Centennial, in farm country. BTW Centennial is one of the metro area's newest cities, and is certainly up scale. Your son lives in a nice location. For your information, the city of Centennial NEVER plows the residential streets. Their main thoroughfares are cleared by the county on a paid contract basis. Centennial, does not own any snow clearing equipment. Presently, we have up to 80 inches of snow (poor man's fertilizer) in some areas. When walking in the snow it is generally between one's knee and hip, so maybe 35 or so inches. I was a good Boy Scout this morning. A lady near our farm became stuck in a huge drift, caused by last nights winds (up to 100 MPH in some locations). With the help of John Deere we rescued the damsel and set her and her car free. I'm waiting for my merit badge to be forwarded by the Boy Scout headquarters in Washington, DC. LOL It is supposed to snow again this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, so who know how deep the snow will be. As long as our heads stay above the drifts we'll be fine. - Millet |

Well, that's more snow than I care to see, I would think it would begin to close in on a person when it get so high. They had photo's on the new's here last night where a front end loader was trying to make a path and the snow was over its roof, incredible! Sounds like they better take up a collection there in Centennial for some snow removal equip. Andy said the big snows happen in March and then they melt, this year there as with other area's the weather is different. Have to see what I can do about that merit badge, I'll vouch for you! Keep Warm and take care of you! _________________
