I chewed it off!!!

Brett Favre is quitting Packers & taking over for me Laughing

Was s'posed to get cast off last week, but just got it off TODAY--YEAY!!
Thanks for asking Laaz! Very Happy

It's very fragile & now on a removable splint. I have a long way to go with therapy. Very limited movement & still hurts. This past week I graduated to holding & supporting a full glass of water!! Frustrating, since I use my hands all the time. Typing...no problem.
Brought my camera along to take a pic of cast getting sawed off, but I forgot I had it. I couldn't look -- thought he'd cut thru my arm LOL.
But then, I coulda forgot cuz ...
....HEY GIRLS, you shoulda seen the guy that cut it off!!! WHAT A HUNK!! Whoo whoo Laughing That might be the reason I forgot about my camera! Arrrgh, I wish I took a pic of HIM cutting it off LOL. I wouldn't have cared if he cut my arm.

Poor arm looked like it belongs to ET. It's skinnier than the other --lost muscle tone & pinkish. By end of year, I'll be able to replace Farve!

Hey Patty,
I am assuming when you broke your arm, they put it in a cast so you could still type ok?
Stupid me broke my right hand this past Monday at work. I am typing with my "useless" left hand. LOL
I go in Tuesday for surgery to put two plates in...one each on two different bones. Hey when I break something, I do it up right! Laughing
Must be that Marine Corps training!

Oh Darren, I feel so bad for you! Your break is a lot worse than mine. My bigger arm bone cracked from 3 1/2 - 4 inches below my thumb knuckle, down on a angle right thru to other end. It was "clean" - meaning they didn't have to set it. I was able to use my fingers - cast was from knuckles to elbow. X rays last week showed bone healed, but there is tissue damage. Top of my hand is still swollen & I cannot grip very well, or bend wrist too much.
You will learn to use your left hand. Simple things like getting dressed, tying shoes is a b*tch (as you know). Hope you have auto car...shifting a stick will be impossible. Workmans comp will take care of $$$ things.
I hope your surgery goes well & you heal quickly. My prayers are with you.
How did you break it? Something fall on it?

Hi Patty,
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
Yes, Workers comp will pay for everything.
No, both of are vehicles are stick,I can drive my truck, I just have to do the crossover trick.
I have actually learned to tie my shoes, using my other foot...very sophisticated move!
Laughing
The way it happened was, I drive one of those box trucks with the roll down back doors. I had just finished making a delivery and was closing the door. I lost my balance and when I went to catch myself my hand went under the rapidly closing door. It hit at full bore, I didn't have a chance. It broke one bone completely and fractured another to the point of needing the plates.
Needless to say it hurt. I actually consider myself lucky, if my hand had been sideways, I shutter to think what would have happened.
Are they talking physical therapy for your hand and wrist? I hope that you get back to normal soon!
Take Care.

Thanks Darren, I can only imagine how painful it was for you.
I'll bet you got back in truck & drove away!
They gave me some therapies to do at home, 10 reps 5-6 times a day. One is - elbow on table...fingers strait up, bending wrist back as far as I can, & bending it frwd as far as I can (can't go far). Nurse measured the angle degree then, & will compare at next appt in couple weeks. If anything, they can do MRI which shows tissue damage (& not broken bones).
Thank God I drink lots of milk, or my arm coulda been shattered! In your case - getting smashed like that, calcium or strong bones wouldn't matter.
Are you in a temp. splint, or cast now?
I can shift my automatic car, but need help w/ left hand to turn key.
Only good thing I see in this, is that it happened in winter & not summer!
