I HATE hard to peel citrus, so I have tried collecting mostly easy to peel varieties. Grapefruit is next on my list, and I want a type that will be easy to peel. I've had some good grapefruit at the store that was really easy to peel, but the sticker wasn't specific on the variety. Which type have you guys had success with? I am in South West Florida, and even this winter, which was the worst in a long long time, I had zero damage on my Key lime tree. Thanks for any info

Bloomsweet is the easiest to peel grapefruit that I know of. It peels like a mandarin.

Keeth I really like Bloomsweet. It peels like a mandarin and has no bitterness. I have several trees but they are not producing yet so I get a few from a friend each year.

I've never tasted a really good bloomsweet. I do however have one branch on my grapefruit tree.

Have you tried juicing the fruit? I juice 99% of my grapefruit. No need for easy peeling then.

If you want a really good tasting grapefruit, try Duncan although it has abundant seeds.

Thanks, I'll give bloomsweet a try.

Does Duncan peel well? I like GF juice, but sometimes I just want to eat the fruit out of hand. Seeds don't bother me. Which red variety would peel well?

I find this post interesting, because I have never ever peeled a grapefruit in my entire life. I have alway just cut the fruit in half, and then ate the sections using a spoon, or juiced it. - Millet (1,029-).

Keeth I have a large Ruby Red tree and really like the fruit but I need a knife to peel them, I also have Duncan and like it too, actually I haven't met many fruit I didn't like. I also have a small Marsh GF but it has severe cold damage, I didn't protect it from 3 knights at 18F. Coctail is ok I just got it this year, to me it is more like an orange that isn't fully ripe. Have you tried Navel GF?

I don't think I've tried Naval GF before.

Millet,

I'm right there with you. I even have a Grapefruit spoon with serrated edges. HOWEVER I took some to work the other day and a coworker immediately upon receiving it started stripping away the skin and then consumed it declaring it to have more sweetness than the Grapefruit that he normally eats. I inquired about the peeling and he said that he has always eaten them that way. I asked him to compare mine to his normal variety. Mine were better colored with no seeds and were easy to peel. I have had nothing but rave reviews on his grapefruit so I guess it is about time to post some pictures to establish the identity.
