We need a citrus miscellaneous area for this sort of stuff. As the kumquat is still in a pot though I'm going to put it in here for the time being and the mods can move it where they please if they feel it necessary.
Yesterday I was fertilizing the container plants - which includes about half of my citrus collection - when the wife came out to chat. She asked about the little Meiwa that is full of ripe fruit so I explained that they were sweet and could be eaten skin and all. She picked one, ate it, decided they were good and picked several more.
The baby wanted its supper so she went inside to get it together for her, leaving one of the kumquats that she had not yet eaten on the table - in reach of the baby who promptly ate it!
I know y'all probably think I'm a nut for mentioning this, but though I'm a life long Floridian I've never cared for kumquats so I was surprised that the baby relished it enough that she ate a rather large one. It was my wife's and my youngest child's first kumquats and they liked them. Maybe I'll come around to liking them myself now.

What I'd like to see is a new Topic where you can post your citrus T-budding and different kinds of graft to a citrus.
Also failure and success stories including pictures. These include Citrus and noncitrus or probably two separate topics.
It would help a lot of people who are contemplating to start their grafts on of their own.
How about it Laaz? |

How about just changing the name on the "propagating citrus" forum to "Propagating, Grafting & budding"!!!!! _________________ Patty

Hi benny the "propagation" forum is just for that purpose. If you want me to expand it to T-bud / grafting / rooting / seedling I can....
Maybe a tutorial forum for grafting / budding ? |

Laaz:
If it is OK with you to post on Forum for Propagation of citrus of noncitrus plants then I'll drink to that. Corona in fact.
I am kinda leery already posting noncitrus pictures on the citrus pictorial or if it is OK with you to post there noncitrus picutures? I would like some guidelines please. If that is the case then the number of views will go to over 3,000. And I am almost halfway there.

Laaz:
I think I solved my own problem.
I saw a few threads at Fruits and Tropicals Forum regarding grafting and budding of noncitrus plants.
Thanks.

How about two new forums for discussions of a general nature - one for citrus topics (under the heading Growing citrus) and one for non-citrus topics? _________________ Indoor Grower |

Are you glad they liked them, or wished theyd saved you some to process?! |

Just my 2 cents worth again. I don't think there should be 2 diff forums for grafting citrus & fruits. There was mention of grafting on "Fruits & Tropicals" forum because there is no one place to post it. I still think the Propogating Citrus forum should read "Propogating, Grafting & Budding Techniques" including citrus or fruits. As JoeReal said on his bark grafting...he did the graft on fruit but it can be done on citrus. I'm talking just one separate forum. Then, if anyone wants to post a new graft technique or ask questions...whether it's fruits or citrus or whatever, it will be right there. _________________ Patty

The baby ate another one yesterday as I was holding her. She steadily nibbled at it until it was gone. The tree looks like it's making flower buds so this Fall she'll have some more it looks like.
