Good afternoon all. Im about to pot up a whole bunch of trees and am toying with the idea of incorporating some granular imidacloprid into my potting medium as a leaf miner & psyllid defense. Typically I apply imidacloprid as a soil applied drench to my inground trees but Im concerned that this will quickly wash out of pots given that I plan to irrigate very frequently in an effort to grow these new trees up quickly.
Perhaps another option would be to incorporate imidacloprid directly into the CHC and coir Ill be using in the potting medium. Both came in compressed blocks and require an initial soak to break them apart. That soak could take place in water dosed with Admire in addition to Epsom Salts and Calcium nitrate
FYI - I will not allow these trees to bear fruit for the foreseeable future and leaf miners are a big problem in my neck of the woods and will undoubtedly be a serious pest this year since we did not have a winter to speak of
Curious to know your thoughts here.
Best,
