Three or four years ago I planted three female and one male hardy kiwi vines. All were about 2ft tall at planting, but grew very rapidly. The male flowered the first year, but the females have never flowered once. They keep growing larger but still not flowers this year. Is this normal? They receive mostly afternoon sun but considering the massive growth it looks to be enough, and the male flowered very early despite being half the volume of the females.

I have not been pruning them at all, thuogh I will have to start this winter as they are starting to grow up to the roof.

Kiwis - arguta, kolomikta, and deliciosa - can be fickle, it seems, and can take a while to flower, even if they are growing well. I have one that is a few years old, but never thrived and has never fruited (wet feet, I'm afraid), one that produced a few fruits after two years, and two that haven't yet produced after two years. Others have said that it has taken years to get good harvests, while Edible Landscaping reports A. arguta "Issai" fruit in just a year. Proper pruning is important for improving yields, but shouldn't make a difference between fruit or no fruit at all.
Check out the pruning guides at Just Fruits and Edible Landscaping:

Very nice looking plants you have, by the way.

Thanks for the info. I wish I had kept the original tags... I think the females were named Arctic Beauty which seems to be 'Actinidia kolomikta' and I cannot remember the male type.

Maybe I'll give it another year or two and if there is still no blooms try the variety you suggested.
