The next one is a Washington Navel that I want to graft over to Bream Tarocco.

The Midknight is the only one that actually has sucker shoots growing at the moment but the buds on all of the trees have exploded into life this past week, like this picture. Does this mean that the bark will be slipping or does the tree have to have actual limbs emerging?

I would do one on each of the one that has a v on the second picture. And after that it all depends on how good your technique is. You can do smaller diameter if you feel comfortable also. I Also like to t bud on the greener branches that haven't hardened off to much
Edit--I can also guarantee the midnights bark is slipping
