Laaz, thank you so much for your post, I really appreciate it.
We had 3 pretty strong quakes, the first and strongest one during the night, around 4 am. It woke us up since the bed was kind of dancing, but no damage to people or buildings here in Bologna.
Small towns north-west from Bologna had major problems - I heard that a lot of old churches were seriously damaged, and the roof of a couple of factories felt down killing two people that were working the night shift. Other 4 people died but I don't know the details.
Let's hope it's finished.

Ciao, Ivan

Good to hear, from the photos it looks like there is quite a bit of damage.

Surprised to hear this. Ussually the quakes hit more southern parts of Italy. This one was felt by people in western Croatia (Istria) too. I feel sorry for those people.

Wow, what is going on over there?

Here is my fav link to check out the latest info on quakes world wide... http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/ it is the USGS web site they also have info on earthquake preparedness. It give the most up to the minute info I have been able to find anywhere..
Click the map to zoom in on where you want to check out quakes happening. It will give detailed info such as how deep the quake started how far from local cities etc. when you click on the block representing a quake.. they have diffrent colors as to how long ago they happened and diffrent sizes of blocks acording to how large the quake was so you can see at a glance the most recent and the larger quakes..
