Hello to all you citruholics! I've heard from Ralph Denton who operates Pungo Palms Nursery in Virginia Beach. Ralph and some of the other citrus enthusiast from Virginia Beach are working on getting the upcoming Southeastern Citrus Expo 06 off the ground Ralph tells me that a site has been secured at the Virginia Beach Aquarium. The facility overlooks some tidal creeks and a large meeting room has been reserved for the meeting that will take place on Sat, Nov. 18th 2006
I am working on getting a chartered bus to take any of us who would be interested in going from Charleston, Florence and perhaps a stop in North Carolina. Many more details have to be worked out but at least we have a place and a time. More details to follow as Expo 06 develpops. Very Happy

Stan, is there citrus planted in ground around the Virginia Beach area to see or is Virginia Beach getting to far north? I will make plans to attend. Thanks for the up-date. - Millet

A small group of us have experimented w/ hardy citrus in Virginia Beach and have had some success. There is one fellow that has the most incredible cold hardy citrus collection of mature trees reaching over 16ft in height. This is truely amazing to see especially considering we are this far north.

Here is a link to pictures of his trees on the Pungo Palms nursery site:

Just click "Citrus in Virginia" on the lower left side and you'll see pictures of all in-ground citrus.
