Hello all!

I finally want to take the next obvious step and purchase some Oscomote Pro and STEM. I did some searches and got a bit frustrated so here I am.

I want to purchase both from the same place to help on shipping charges etc...Can anyone suggest a good place for this?

Also, I saw how many different types of oscomote there is, and I don't think I remember anyone here specifying what type. Searches here didn't render anything. I read elsewhere that 19-5-8 with minors is good.....confirmation anyone? : )

I don't take any official action anymore without asking here! Thanks Guys.

How about Multicote? stay close to the ratio of 5-1-3 plus minors.

I'm after the cheapest total price (including shipping and handling) per kg of nutrient weight (not the weight of the package).

Never heard of multicote! More research for me!

As far as price, I am just interrested in getting some first in small quantities I suppose. I imagine a small amount would last me a long time for my needs. I just want to make sure I don't order from two different places...a pain to me if there's a place that can deliver both at once.

Why don't you go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy osmocote? Faster and you don't have to pay shipping. Citrus aren't particular about fertilizer, like high N though.

My boyfriend just told me we do have a home depot, thought we only had reno depot. I'll check them out, but being where I am, I still highly doubt they have it.

I'll let you know...

I have had excellent results from Osmocote Plus 15-9-12 Southern. I use it on all of my citrus, inground and container plus about 95% of all the plants I grow. It makes gardening and growing easier and more enjoyable for me since it always gives me great results and it lasts all the growing season. The bag states that it is a controlled release fertilizer for geenhouse crops, nursery stock, foliage, and landscaping. It really does work on all those plants. It costs $59.00 for a 50lb. bag from my local supplier. It is well worth the money.

I honestly think that most of these fertilizer companies ran off with your monies. I can achieve the same fertilizer for under $16 for a 50 lb bag and it would last a lot longer. It just need proper calculations of ratios of various cheapo fertilizers that are on sale. When I used to work at our rice research in my post graduate studies where we can order directly from farm suppliers, the price of the same equivalent fertilizer formulation could come only to $3.99 for a 50-lb bag. We are making somebody very rich for simple conveniences.

Well, like I thought, Home depot here has never heard of the stuff.

Geez, growing citrus in Canada is a huge challenge not just for weather! I can't get my hands on anything I need here!!

Again, any supplier coordinates from anyone who has dealt with them succesfully would be greatly appreciated.

I found a one year slow release "Osmacoate" type fertilizer with the formula 23-4-8 (which is the closest to a 5-1-3 that I have ever found, at the Crystal Company of Saint Louis. - Millet

Ecomtl,
If you are looking for a slow-release fertilizer, there's a product called Smartcote by Plant-Prod. The one called Shrub & Evergreen Food has a 20-7-10 formulation.

I bought a 3 lb container of osmocote for $8-9.00 recently at my HD (what a rip off--lean grnd beef is cheaper!) & closest I could get to 5-1-3 is 19-6-12 & it has no micro's.
You know Gen, ordering from 2 diff places doesn't always mean the shipping will be a lot more. I've ordered 2 -3 diff things from one place & they charged for S&H each individually & sent them all in same pkg.
If I were you, I'd order from Crystal Co. (Millet's last post here on osmocote he found ) & order STEM from FirstRays.com.

Just re read that the Osmocote Millet found is 1 yr slow released & mine says ' feeds up to 4 months'. I can't imagine how a slow release fert can feed for 12 months. It's just gotta break down sooner than that!
