Here is a picture I took today of my remaining satsumas and my best friend Cletus. He actually enjoys eating fresh citrus along with his biggest fan! Notice the shed leaves of this satsuma, the results of an 18F night a couple of weeks ago.

Stan,
I can attest to Cletus' eating citrus. He loves satsuma and will actually follow you around and beg for it! Cletus is a good companion.
That tree looks like it will be ok to me. What is surprising is that the fruit looks like it might be ok too.

I think most dogs love citrus. Both my Rott's love satsumas as well as navels.
I can't believe you still have satsumas on the tree... All of mine were fully ripe in early Dec. The few I left on the tree longer started to go bad. |

My Chihuahua and Chihuahua/Jackrussle mix do not like citrus.. I tried the Jackhuahua gets excited when I peal an orange or Satsuma.. but when I offer her a bite she turns her nose up at it..
What Kind of dog is Cletus?? I had a dog named Mopsy when I was 8 that looked like that.. we never knew what kind.. it wandered to our yard one winter.. we looked for it's owners but never could find them.. so we kept it.. it moved with us to NM and it was disposed of by the ppl where we were keeping it because we couldn't keep it at where we first moved to.. when we moved to a place we could have pets my dad got me a wolf hybrid to make up for it.. though I loved the wolf hybrid he was no Mopsy.. Bar none Mopsy was the best dog I've ever owned!!!
I believe the wonderdog part with out ever knowing Cletus!!

Thanks for the follow up post guys. This was my 2nd attemt at using a digital camera I got as a present from my wife over a year ago. Some of the aspects of computer workings baffle me! I dont have a lot of time to sit around and try to figure things out and I sure dont have time to take a course. Been thinking about ordering the Video Professor that advertizes on TV. Babyblue.. I dont know what kind of Dog Cletus is.. To tell you a humorous story.... About 10 years ago, I decided I would like to have a small dog to keep me company on the farm.. I didnt have any grandkids then so I just made up my mind I wanted a small sized dog. I asked all the local rabbit hunters if they had a runt beagle puppy and everwhere I went, it was the same story. "Why didnt you ask me last week or last month?" Id get that from everybody I asked about a puppy. I finally quit asking and then on the way home from church one Sunday morning... Cletus was in the middle of a back country road... at a Stop sign! He was just a small pup and evidently, somebody had discarded him because there are no houses anywhere around in this particular area that is on my way home from church. Do you know what I did? I drove straight across at the Stop sign and left Cletus standing in the road! My wife looked back once we were heading homeward on the other side of the stop and saw Cletus.... running his little legs off trying to catch my car. My wife told me.. Stop and pick that little dog up before he gets smashed by a car, she said. I did, and the rest is history. We have been best friends ever since then and I could not count the thousands of times Cletus has put a smile on my face with his funny antics. To end my story I have to tell this.. Everybody that comes to my nursery... if they are a repeat customer.. the first thing they ask is: Wheres Cletus? Not how are you doing or Nice weahter.. just Where is Cletus? I tell folks who ask from time to time if Cletus is for sale... that the farm, my car, my truck all are for sale but Cletus is not for SALE! LOL... I then tell them that God gave Cletus to me and what God has joined together... let no man seperate them! With me and Cletus, Its til Death do us Part! Sorry for digressing so.. Stan, I certainly know how it is. I live on a farm, and we get 4 or 5 dogs and cats dropped off every year. I kept one, a Chow/Black Lab mix and named him Amos. I had Amos for 15 years, until he passed away a couple years back. He followed me all around the farm. Amos did not eat oranges, but he was a good mouser.- Millet |

Bob, My daughter married a guy whos last name is Amos.. so now, I have little Famous Amos's ( at least to me!) running all over Pop Pop. Never thought of naming a dog Amos but its as good as Cletus I suppose??? My youngest daughter named Cletus after the character in the Eddie Murphy movie " The Nutty Professor".. In it the grandmother is telling her husband " Cletus" as they are seated at the dinner table.." Its just a short walk Cletus" meaning that if he wants a scrap with her .... he doesnt have far to go to get it! ... My Cletus has short legs so that must be how my daugher made the connection??? _________________ Y ORANGE U Growin Citrus

Stan, I would gladly come over & pick the rest of those satsumas, & take your little dog too! LOL He is a cutey. I bet he wouldn't let that burglar in my house last summer!
I had a chow chow since he was 5 weeks old...he was my best buddy too till 3 yrs ago. Had to put him down after a short 13 yrs. I never did offer him an orange
Your pic is great ... you learned your camera well. _________________ Patty

Stan, My neighbours feline (a long haired himilayan) hangs out at my place
no vet bills for me! So far Gus has avoided my citrus plantings. He likes to fertilize my Palms and Peach tree. Next Year I will ask you to ship me some of your satsumas .

Cletus surely looks as though he is mostly Lhasa Apso, he kind of reminds me of my sister- in- laws dog Pepper, at any rate he is a cutey! _________________
