I have been very fortunate to get 6 citrus seeds. What should I do to ensure that some wiil germinate. It may be a long time, months, before I can get more seeds. Any advice will be very much appreciated.

I use a warming pad, on low, underneath those little peat pellet greenhouses. I am germinating at around 75-80%. If the seeds aren't fresh, I soak them for a few days.

Keep the pellets moist but not soaking wet.

You should have seedlings from 2-5 weeks depending on your varieties. Everybody has their differnent method for germinating seeds. Check under propogation on this forum...

Why wouldn't you be able to get seeds for Months???

With six citrus seeds your odds should be almost 100 percent that at least 4 of the seeds will germinate, if they are fresh seeds. Never let citrus seed dry out. The ideal temperature for germinating citrus seed is 86F (30C). I plant all my citrus seed in a mixture of 50 percent peat moss and 50 percent perlite. Maintain a moist germinating medium, and a temperature of 86F (30C) and your seed should germinate in 21 to 30 days. Actually, citrus are VERY EASY to germinate. With six seeds, almost any thing you plant them in should at least give you 50 percent success. - Millet
