These are from the same tree. The one exposed to more sunlight has a redder skin color but not as good as the one that has fewer red blotches on the skin.

Hope you enjoyed the view, while I enjoyed the taste. Not very sweet, just very fruity.
That's the end of my blood oranges for this season's harvest. |

Thanks for the pics Joe. I didn't realize the flesh was that RED. I lost my sanguinelli. I did eat a moro not too long ago (1st time in stores now!).
How would you compare taste of that to moro & budd blood ?.. which I have growing. Which is sweeter? Thanks _________________ Patty

The juice are more like dark purplish red. Sanguinelli is sweeter than Moro in my yard even harvested literally from the same tree, so comparison is as fair as it gets, but this test is valid in my yard, biased by my taste buds. Cara-cara, also from the same tree, beats both of them when it comes to taste. The taste of the blood oranges are unique and really different than the navels and valencias. They have more fruity berry tang into them but not that sweet. |

You say sanquinelli is sweeter than moro...I sure liked that moro although a little on tart side. I tried replacing the sanq. last yr. but the nursery said they were out & gave me a "Budd Blood" instead. What the heck is that?...another one I never heard of.
You are making me hungry for blood oranges! _________________ Patty

Patty: The Budd blood could be another synonym to one of my blood oranges. Although this is the first time I've heard about it. As I always said that not all cultivars will taste in the same way when planted in different places or yard, the same is true for blood oranges.
Benny: Thanks! |
