Varieties I am considering for my new home in Missouri City, TX. I'll have space for around 10 trees. I'm putting in a special sprinkler zone with a drip line just for these trees. A friend has had much more luck growing citrus than me and he irrigated his trees weekly. His trees grow much faster than mine and his fruit is better. I'll have mine on a timer and irrigate regularly.

New Zealand Lemonade Tastes like a grocery lemon that has been sweetened. The best of the "sweet" lemons IMHO

de Nules clementine one of the best clementines

Nova one of the best mandarins

USDA 88-2 Lee x Nova new and promising

USDA 15-150 Lee x Orlando new and promising

Minneola tangelo a really great but late fruit

Xia shan satsuma I've grown a dozen varieties and don't see a need to grow more than one. Fruit quality on my satsumas has been lousy even on mature trees.

Bream tarroco blood orange a supposedly better selection of tarocco

Sanguinelli blood orange one of my favorites

Nordman seedless nagami great with no seeds for marmalade

Changshou kumquat very large fruit

Golden grapefruit IMHO the best variety to grow in Houston area

Cocktail grapefruit very nice fruit

Cara cara red navel best navel for good color

Midnight valencia wow can this be good

Seville Sour Orange I'm growing this out from seed

Giant key lime large selection of key lime

Meyer lemon very productive and most cold hardy lemon

Out of the running:
Page - very sweet but too small fruit

I agree with you on the valencia. They may not be as easy to eat as navels but the taste is richer in my opinion... Delicious!

Phil you write you have room for 10 trees, but you list 17 trees, so you must be going to going to achieve the extra varieties by grafting multiple varieties on some of your trees. - Millet
