Hope no one minds me posting this here, but, this is funny. I just cleared off a small table top in 'puter room & found a index card that fell off my cork board. It is directions on how to care for my first citrus - P. Trifoliate. All hand written & signed by "Stan (shipper for ww plants)". Attached with a paper clip is McKenzie's Farm & Nursery business card. I knew nothing about rootstock or citrus or P. Trifoliate. I was impressed worldwideplants said this citrus would grow in Z5 so I bought it back in 2002.
Who would've thought that more than 3 yrs later I'd sit next to him at dinner in SC surounded by citrus Pro's!!!
It never registered who he was THEN, - didn't see that card for awhile.
I remember when I ordered it, I asked for any / all advice on how to grow it. The first line that Stan wrote is "Upon arrival: Remove from bag"
And the rest is all very detailed -- for the citrus dummy that I was then LMAO Laughing
Thank you Stan for taking the time to HAND print these instructions! It was a good start for me becoming a citruholic.
I since bought many more plants & even built a new sunroom to keep them for winter. Small world huh?

Patty, there is a long story behind World Wide Plants that I will try and make as brief as possible. Some 5 years ago or longer, Jeff Picazio of Florida contacted me about shipping some cold hardy citrus for him. Jeff had previously lived in Connecticut and had made contact with me before he made the move to Florida. When he formed the World Wide Plants Company, he asked if I would be willing to ship the cold hardy types of citrus that are not available in Florida. I agreed and became the citrus part of World Wide Plants. Ive always been careful to try and not sell folks a bunch of hype so that was the reason for the handwritten note along with your bitter lemon. Ive never trialed a bitter lemon in a zone 5 climate so I really wouldnt know how cold they would tolerate. Jeff would describe plants as hardy to 0F Etc. I often explain to folks that they may survive that temperature for a short overnite dip but on an extended basis... I dont think there is a citrus out there that will survive in an icebox for a long period of time. Anyway, Glad I was responsible for our "Wisconsin" branch of Citruholics Annonymous. Laughing

The tree is doing fine, although it is slow growing. It's supposed to be cold hardy to Z 6-7 but as Stan said, WWPlants said it's hardy to Z 5. Every winter it went into a cool dark room in basement except this winter.
I got brave & planted it outside with about 18" of mulch. We shall see.
