Thanks everyone. Ryan, nothing is protected that is planted in-ground. You would be surprised how tough most citrus is. The only reason the variegated blood orange & variegated valencia orange are in large containers is because the fruit doesn't ripen until March. I would lose all my fruit every year. The trees themselves are hardy enough to grow in the ground here & yes I have both in the ground as well, just to see what they can do.

Laaz, they have grown quite a bit since I seen them last. The "old woman Marge" grapefruit tree, is it from the tree in Charleston, growing in the back yard of the house we looked at over the fence? If so, I remember the woman of the house was not home the day we stopped by. - Millet (473-)

Holy cr@p that's a lot of trees. How big is your property?

I unfortunately live in the city (Burnaby) and even though I have a big backyard by city standards, most of my citrus collection will have to remain in containers or else they will get too big if planted in-ground.

Extremely jealous BTW.

Anthony

That’s amazing!!! Shocked

Your trees look fantastic, very nice!
I love satsumas, I have 4 variety but are very young.

I start to think that Millet has right when he says in one of his post that you are watering your tree with holy water! Laughing
I’m extremely jealous because you can grow them in ground, I wish to can do but there is no chance, just PT. Sad

Congratulation! hate-bravo2

Don't know if I can get the day off yet. They have us working stupid schedules now.

Thanks everyone else. I believe I have 10 different varieties of Satsuma's alone. Trees on standard trifoliata are about 12 tall, trees on FD are about 8 ft tall.
