I thought true science didn't censor (unless you have something to hide).

Report: Dems Refused To Allow Climate Skeptic To Testify

Friday, Apr 24, 2009 @09:31am CST

(Washington, DC) -- A former science advisor to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher says he has been uninvited to appear before a House Energy and Commerce hearing today on global warming.

Lord Christopher Monckton told "Climate Depot" that committee Democrats rescinded his scheduled joint appearance with former Vice President Al Gore because, according to him, they don't want "Gore humiliated" over evidence or lack of evidence about global warming.

Monckton says committee member Texas Republican Joe Barton had invited him to go head to head with Gore in testimony at the hearing on Capitol Hill.

The British scientist says when his airplane from London landed in the U.S. on Thursday, he was told that the former Vice-President had, in his words, "chickened out" and there would be no joint appearance.

Gore is scheduled to testify in the fourth day of hearings on the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009.

Dauben, Al Gore, besides forever tarnishing the Nobel Peace Prize, has certainly become a pathetic public joke. I wish I had a dollar for every time Al Gore has backed down from debating the subject of "man made global warming". The pathetic polar bear that stared in Al Gore's movie wasn't even a real bear, it was a computer generated image with its performance programed. His constant non-defense of his "man made global warming" beliefs stands as evidence of his personal corruption. - Millet (1,358-)

What's funny is that they did allow Newt Gingrich to testify in Lord Monckton's place. I imagine that he could be easily dismissed as just a right wing nut with a partisan agenda. The good old ad hominem arguments are pretty common in politics. If Adolf Hilter said the "sky was blue" you would have half the population believing the sky was anything but blue.

I've posted this before, but anyone with a degree in science can join the 31,478 other scientists in refuting anthropogenic global warming by signing the petition at: http://www.petitionproject.com/

Not sure I am quite qualified to prove or disprove the idea of anthropogenic global warming (or that I even believe in the concept for that matter) but I would have to guess that curbing carbon emissions would likely have long term positive effects on the overall health of the world. I do not have a degree in science but I would be suprised if it was healthy to breathe the air in Los Angeles (yes, 'healthy' is relative). I could be wrong though and unlike Al Gore, I will admit it when I am wrong. That said cleaner air and anthropogenic global warming are different topics and I am aware of that. I agree with you that it is rediculous that there would be censorship when it comes to such an important topic. Anyone who appreciates science must know how important it is to always have as much information on a topic as possible even if it is contrary to what one hopes to hear (devil's advocate is a role I've always appreciated as it keeps everyone honest). This is especially true when it becomes an economic and tax issue. Doesn't really suprise me to see Newt and Adolf in the same paragraph by the way Wink

On a side note, has anyone seen the episode of That's Impossible on the History Channel about weather manipulation??? If you havn't you should check it out, it was pretty interesting. Not sure I quite buy into everything they talk about reguarding weather warfare but the prospects of weather manipulation for real world applications is pretty interesting.
