Crape Myrtle
I took this picture from the doorway of my shop since it was raining at the time ,but ant she a bute?
We get accustomed to walking by something so beautiful and don’t even notice it. If it had not been for the roar of hundreds of honeybees ,I probably would not have paid any attention to something as awesome as this. The flowers are short lived but it’s truly breath taking to see if you take the time to notice these things. The picture does not convey the beauty.
If you enlarge the picture you can see my wife’s prize pumpkin and a Fuyu persimmon to the right of the Crape and some of the bees hovering.
God must frown on those who walk past this beauty without admire his work.

Hey Karl,
Yes, as Crape Myrtles Go, that is a pretty one. The nursery that I work at sells Crape Myrtles, but I must admit, I am not a big fan of them. I have a Tuscarora Crape in my yard. It is the last thing to leaf out, takes forever to flower, when it does it makes a mess...luckily it doesn't last too long. The bark also peels alot and makes a mess. They are pretty, I am just not fond of them in my yard. But yours is very pretty.
Darren

Skeet
I was also concerned about the absence of bees earlier in the year. Mostly there were bumble bees pollinating everything, but when the crape bloomed, it just explodes with honey bees.
I watched some of the news this weekend and it looks like some politicians in California are starting to take it seriously.

I just read an article in the morning paper, that the disappearance of bees is not as serious as first thought. - Millet

I though this would be interesting. This crape myrtle only gets 2 feet tall. Not in bloom yet but unique

What a beautiful tree!
I've got a white one covered in flowers now, lots of bees and a good number of Japanese beatles too. Mine is a clean tree other than normal leaf and flower drop, a friend on the other hand had one more like Cactusrequiem talks about. What a mess, a pink one, with peeling bark and worst of all, it dewed everywhere. It grew near the garden and anything in its reach was sticky and nasty from the crepe myrtle dew.

This winter I'm hoping to move my CM, it is only about 12'tall, and is where I want to plant two more bananas. Bananas win out. Plus, it shades my calamondin a little too.

thanks for the pic,
-Ethan
