hi all,
managed to pick up some chc from a online retailer, its the medium grade and the size is 8 - 10mm is this ok ? also what should i mix this with? please help i want to get this right this time. Smile - also the rootball has compacted soil around it to the size of the roots, how do i remove all the soil? or do i need to? will running the roots under the tap help? - sorry for all the questions as im new to this and i wat to get it right........cheers simon

All the info is on the forum, have a search.

In short, mix 75% chc with 25% peat/compost/slow release fertiliser etc.

The chc will be dry, so soak them for at least 24 hours, change the water a few times, this will remove some chc salt.

Remove as much soil as posssible, shower/tap/bucket will all ease the job.

Don't pick a container too big and don't pack all thenew mix down too tight, you want air gaps, that's the aim.....

hi beno,
chc is all washed and ready to go - thanks for the advice, i have mixed 75% chc 25% peat. Just got to try and get as much soil off the rootball tomorrow as possible!

A little gentle force, a tap, shower or bucket of water does the job. The centre of the root ball doesn't matter as much as the outsides!! Good luck
