We were at our Home Depot lookalike here in NZ viewing their newly arrived citrus trees when I spied one leftover starved yellowish 3ft high tree amongst all the fresh green new arrivals that happened to be an Ugli with a $20 pricetag.
An assistant said it certainly wasn't worth that and the manager was dreaming and offered it to us for $5.
We can't pick it up until she is working Saturday as that is the day she is in charge of the department.
I wasn't intending to grow an ugli and will have to green it up in the glasshouse until spring, otherwise it seemed semihealthy with no bugs.
Has anyone any knowledge of growing this variety?

Millet, i know you have said that you got ride of all the citrus that tastes bad. and focus on the good tasting ones. have you grown the ugli and do you still have it in your green house?

In Beleze in 1994 there was a lot of ugle fruit that was excellent tasting. The round oranges even though they were green were also excellent.

Are ugli trees actually available for sale? Seems to me that "ugli" is a brand name owned by some ugli company and the fruits are im/exported to countries by a single company. I have never seen ugli trees available for sale anywhere...

Ugli are sold as trees under that name in NZ. Don't know about the rest of the world.
They are very common trees down here.

Taste depends on heat. Hotter the sweeter. Here in NZ they get quite acidic.

Can Ugli be grown from seed? Anyone done it?

Ugli is monoembryonic and not true to type.

I tasted an Ugli fruit for the first time today. I must say I was very disappointed, it just tasted like... nothing! It was nearly tasteless. The skin around the parts was very tough also.

Maybe it was just bad luck. I have two more lying around, I will try them out later. But so far it's not a good experience...

I'd very much like to grow an ugli that is the same as the type shipped in from Jamaica around here. But my guess is I won't find it, considering there's only one company that owns it? I have done a little searching and no luck.
