Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forums (I joined in order to see JoeReal's amazing 81-n-1 tree photos!), and I've only begun to plumb the depths of information on the site. One question I haven't seen the answer to in my admittedly brief searching is where I can find the best deal on a few rolls of parafilm grafting tape. I don't know that I need a full dozen, at this point. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Although it's not actually for grafting, you can get parafilm cheaply from ebay and I think it's the same stuff as grafting tape. I purchased some from this guy. Although 2" us too wide for grafting, I've found that cutting off a strip works. I'm waiting till summer to try forcing my first parafilmed chip graft, but it still looks alive. |

Thanks for the suggestion, Sludge. If this is, in fact, the same product as parafilm grafting tape, but cut to a different width, what about the parafilm florists' tape I see listed on ebay? Some of it is green, but otherwise seems like an even closer fit, if all parafilms are created equal. |

I'm actually not sure if florists tape is parafilm or not. When I looked online I found several pages that said that florists tape is paper tape with an adhesive, and some that said it was a type of parafilm. I'd guess that if it specifically says it's parafilm it'd work for grafting, but I'm really not sure.
Also I'd like to make clear that I have almost no experience at grafting. So far I've only made one graft that may be successful. |

I buy my Parafilm at VWR Labshop. They sell a 2" wide 250 foot roll for $16 USD plus shipping. I cut it into 1" wide strips approximately 9" long for cleft-grafting pencil-thick trees. This tape is thick enough to hold the grafts solidly with no other taping. I do not know how its thickness compares to the less-expensive tapes, but I've been pleased.

I prefer the Buddy tape. It is a little more expensive but, in my opinion better for grafting and budding. Buddy tape can be ordered from A M Leonard. |

Yes, that is it. Looks like there are two rolls in each plastic pack. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...
