Dr. Val Tanguilig will be conducting a course on Growing Organic Fruits and Vegetables. Val is a friend and colleague of mine, and he worked at various agricultural farm enterprises in Australia and the Philippines, often spearheading the drive to organic farming.
Course objectives are:
1. Discuss the basic philosophy and principles of organic farming/gardening.
2. Discuss the basic principles and practical approaches in managing the soil for organic growing.
3. Discuss the basic principles and practical approaches in tailoring crop nutrition and pest control programs for organic growing.
4. Know the requirements for organic certification.
Learning outcomes:
1. The participant will know how crops (fruits and vegetables) are grown organically.
2. The participant will know how to grow/manage his garden/farm for organic certification.
3. The participant will know what are his assurance(s) that the product hes buying is certified organic or not.
4. The participant will know the market potential of organic products.
