I'm having a terrible time germinating Flying Dragon seed. I got some shipped from a company who had them germinating in peat moss (which smelled rancid BTW), sowed them in sterile potting soil about 1" deep with what I think is the root radicle down and nothing. It's been 3 weeks with warm temps. It is the root radicle that comes out first, right?

Yes, it's right, but why did'n you put them at the surface of the ground? You could look on them every day. If you are in doubt, you can open the two skins of the seed (with fine tools) to see what's happening inside.

Because they germinate better when planted underground as nature intended. I have placed more in a wet paper towel stuffed in a baggie to monitor if and when the seedcoat cracks.

When citrus seeds dry out they lose viability very quickly. I have never had a problem germinating flying dragon, but I plant them directly from the fruit...

That may be the key. I pre-soak them for about 24 hours and yes they are wrinkled out of the packet.
