I started my Blueberry wine today using the EC 1118 yeast. The bushes at the farm where I picked are so loaded that I picked 20# in just over one hour! I did get a few leaves and an occasional green berry when I picked, but I got those out when I ground the berries.

I can't wait to taste it!

I can't wait!!!

Well, if only the teenagers haven't been abusing the online orders, it would have still been alright to exchange wines through the mail, but now it is not available for wine hobbyists like us, only for registered commercial wineries properly filling up red-tape forms. It is a federal offense to ship wine if you're not a registered member of the evil for sheer profit empire, mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha (voice of emperor Palpatine in Star Wars!)

Maybe if you ever come to Florida, or I go the CA we could share a bottle!

Sure! I have blueberry wines of vintages 2004, 2005, 2006. Haven't started on the 2007 yet. Not enough for one batch yet, perhaps 10 lbs more to go. I harvest them daily and store in the freezer until I have enough.

I wish you could come over to the berry farm where I am managing a U-pick berry patch (--not my farm-- I just meet people there, weigh berries and collect payment)--- I bet there will be 10,000 lbs that just fall to the ground. When picking there you don't bother reaching for clusters that won't fill your hand--or even that size if they are above your head or below the waist! There are some that are big as quarters!

The picking is so much better, that I have about decided to pick berries there and pay instead of picking my own-- I have 50 bushes, most are still small, but at least 8 or 10 are over 6 ft. I pick 2-3 #/hr on my bushes--but 18-20 #/hr at the berry farm--it's unbelievable!

Well, I found my old hydrometer, but it was primarialy used for beer and is a very accurate Brix hydrometer but it only goes to 12% sugar-- so it is floating a little high right now.

I will order a wine hydrometer before my next batch.

There is an estate winery here near Vancouver that specializes in blueberry wines. They also have the worlds largest microwave oven (I am not sure where that fits into the equation)

I strained my wine and put it in the carboy yesterday. I tasted some of the strained juice-- I think it is going to be great!
