my lime tree is about 3feet tall/wide and in a pot.i left it out of the glasshouse in about late march and is still out.the plant had a good showing of flowers in spring and now has a good crop of fruit.i have looked after the watering and applied a proprietry liquid feed applied in the pot and also as afoliar feed.round about july/august on one of the branches the leaves turned yellowish and so has the branch stem near the top of the branches.the fruit is also turning a bit yellow.the leaves and fruit on this branch are not completely yellow but a mix with an element of green.the other branches/leaves and fruit are a dark green colour.any ideas what is the matter

If the last time you fertilized the tree was last July, I am sure the tree is lacking nourishment. Citrus are heavy feeders. A container tree need to be fertilizer with a complete fertilizer (NPK) that also contains trace minerals a minimum of once a month. Once every two weeks is better. . Nitrogen and potassium are both very water soluble, therefore rapidly leach out of the root zone with every watering. Welcome to the Citrus growers forum. We are happy you have become a member.

Not fertilizing citrus during the winter months is recommended for trees growing outdoors and planted in the ground. The reason for this is so you do not encourage the tree to produce new growth, that would be killed in the event of a cold spell. However a container tree that will spend the winter protected indoors or in a greenhouse, should receive some nutrients. If you tree is going to be located in a lower light situation then feed it at 1/2 strength.

I sometimes observed that in my citruses inground when colder months approaches. They revert back nice and green come spring when they get nutrition system going back on from dormancy.

Is that branch old or relatively younger compared to others?

the plant is in a pot about 3 feet high and wide.two stems come from the ground(each about half an inch thick)they then branch into two each .ie 4 branches in all
it is one of these brances (about half an inch thick also for about 2 of the 3 feet )that is affected. the change happened in mid summer.i also applied an iron tonic when i first spotted the problem.i propose to bring the plant indoors before the arrival of frost.

For your information: Nitrogen deficiencies show up on OLDER leaves. Shows up on older leaves with the newer leaves will still have some green.
Iron deficiency shows up on NEWER leaves. In iron deficiency the newer leaves will have green veins on otherwise yellow leaves. No green border around the veins.

Millet, out of curiosity, when new leaves show "white", what mineral deficiency is that symptomatic of, magnesium?

I have a Pumelo that is giving me some strange reads.
