My son just picked the first Yuzu from his tree. This is the first year it has produced. I can't say it had any "Off" flavors... From everything I have read Yuzu has some off flavors, but this tasted like a very good quality lemon. Anyone have any input on this ?
32 Seeds which will be used as rootstock next year... |

Laaz, just today I ate seven Yuzu that Citrus Joe gave me. They had a pretty nice lemon flavor, but not as nice and crisp as a lemon. The fruit is more seeds than juice and pulp. They really contain A LOT of rather large seeds, I planted 36 of the seed into a 50/50 peat and perlite mix. - Millet |

Same here Millet. The fruit is loaded with seed, but the flesh is not dry as many claim. To tell you the truth, I like the flavor of Yuzu a lot more than the Meyer lemons... |

Ive got one yuzu seedling that made it from some ebay seeds last winter- I am not the best with ferts etc. yet but darn this thing is growing SLOW. its under 10 inches, about 12 leaves. quite thin still. (My key from seed is about 3 times as tall, twice as thick, many branches)
Im wondering if it wouldnt be best to buy one or graft if I want fruits...
I really like using lemon zest in baking, how is yuzu-zest?
How is Sanbokan zest? i bought one of those recently.... |

For a hardy, sour fruit, I find Taichang better than Yuzu for eating out of hand. Yuzu may be better for cooking, I have never used it in that way.
Millet, if I ate 7 yuzu in one day, I would probably be at the hospital having my stomach pumped. LOL |

Ned, I was actually getting the seeds out of the Yuzu fruit using my teeth. I did eat a "lot" of the pulp and juice. I have the word "lot" in quotation marks because the fruit are 95 percent seed. BTW, Ned the very first Flying Dragon germinated and came through the soil today, from the seed that you sent me. Thanks.- Millet |

I am going to yank a couple of yuzu off of my trees to make some yuzudrop martinis (same as a lemondrop but substitute Yuzu for Lemon, wet the rim with a slice of yuzu, sugar the rim, then garnish with a curled yuzu rind. Some people twist the rind over the glass for a more aromatic drink) for a dinner party tonight. I will let you guys know how the flavor is... _________________ citrusboy aka marc

Yuzudrop Martini's were a big hit. 2 fruits per Martini. Lots of seeds. Great flavor. So much more subtle than lemon. _________________ citrusboy aka marc
