Great idea, probably much easier than wrapping tape! _________________ - Marc |

Yes indeed, and this kind of clothes pegs has two holes with different diameter, so you can use it for different thicknes of rootstocks. In the first picture, I used big hole for good holding on thick rootstock and at the second plant, which ich much thinner, I used second - smaller hole on the same clothes pegs. |

Nice job. As long as you have a cover so the scion doesn't dry out you should have good success. You could probably use a stick & plastic bag as well. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

Yes, of course. Small plant can be covered whole - for example with cover made from PET bottle, while on big tree, I just put the grafted twig into the plastic bag. |

Nice technique. I usually use grafting tape and rubber bands. Clothespins and a bag or bottle look easier. Now I want some ZOOM cola lollipops! |

Radoslav, your clothespin idea, in my opinion is the neatest new idea so far this year. I like it a lot. - Millet (277 BO-) |

Thanks for sharing this Radoslav! I'll definitely try this method when I graft for the first time later this year |

I like this method if the humidity is high enough. Out here, I think wrapping in tape is a better idea. I've tried soda bottles and plastics bags and the tape does a much better job protecting the scion. It's a great idea though and probably gets a much quicker "take" on the graft since the union is probably much tighter. |

I used this technique four years ago, but with much smaller seedlings (3 months) and smaller clothes pegs (one inch long).
I did this way because stems and bud "wood" were too weak to be wrapped with tape.
On some, use both.
As the stem could not carry the weight of the clog, you can notice that the clogs are fixed on a green wire.
The last picture show you the scale of the pictures as the "pot" is a beer can. |
