well, I saw a blond thin lady running thru the parking lot with cuttings in her purse, so I guessed it was Patty, and it was!
Millet introduced himself, and gave a talk about potted plants, mostly about good depth for containers and root temps. Hes got a very cute voice.
Mr. Stan and Ned talked about coastal in-ground plants, and had some great slides. Stan wears a white cowboy hat.
Zac from the banana forum spotted me, and we didnt talk much. the fruit judging was neat, and I got to see, smell, and after folks had abandoned their fruits, tasted a few new ones. Taichang lemon was very tasty IMHO, and I tried some great tangerines and mandarines I should have kept better record of!
Patty was nice enough to give me a lift over to the tour, after Eyeckr convinced her she wouldnt get lost. and its eye checker, as in optometrist, desipite there not being an H in the screen name
The tour of Dr. M's place was really neat. I am in love with Keraji, and pineapple guava (feijoas). I would love to have his yard, and his bushels of fuzzy kiwi!
I planted my seeds today, keraji, 10 degree tangerine, yuzu, hong kong bean, sanbokan, and pineapple guava. I have seeds from something else citrus too, but i have no idea what it is. I really have to wait to get any other large citrus because i have no room, but seedlings dont take too much effort. I got 41 or so seeds out of one big trifolate fruit too. yay!
I got a Strawberry Guava in the raffle, and it made it on the plane just fine. the TSA folks seemed a bit charmed.
Maybe Ill try for Galveston next year....?
