This was emailed to me by Harvey Correia about 30 minutes ago.

Subject: Satsuma & Clementine Display Field Walk thru Wednesday November 12 10AM

Citrus Variety Evaluations

Tracy Kahn
Curator of the Citrus Variety Collection Botany and Plant Sciences
Department, UC Riverside

Date: November 12, 2008
Time: 10 am to noon
Location: Conference Building at Lindcove Research and Extension Center, 22963 Carson Ave, Exeter, CA, (559-592-2408)

Program: Field Display and walk-through of the Lindcove Citrus Demonstration Orchard

Tracy Kahn has been providing evaluations of new citrus varieties for California since 1995 with support from the Citrus Research Board. For the November 12th presentation, she will provide an overview of the Satsumas and Clementines grown in California and discuss recent shifts in the types of citrus being planted in California. She will also cover information about the origins of the citrus varieties and present data on selected varieties from her current fruit quality evaluation research.

The walk-through of the citrus Demonstration orchard will allow you to see more than 50 varieties of Satsuma and Clementine. This is a great opportunity to improve your recognition of citrus varieties and to see how the trees grow under San Joaquin Valley conditions.

1 unit of continuing Education credits have been requested.

Thanks for posting, Joe. I just got done with chestnut shipments and was going to post it here myself right now. I had forwarded it to Joe about 5 minutes after I received the message. I belong to 3 CRFG chapters and this helps ensure I get notices of such events but this came out with very short notice for some reason.

I have tried to talk Joe into going....he says he will be bored at a board meeting tomorrow, but the tasting is the day after. If Joe leaves his home at 3:30am and meets me at the Park & Ride at I-5 and 12 I think we can make it in time. Just bring toothpicks to keep our eyes open on the ride back! Wink

Our bored (board) meeting will be for 2 days, and being VP, cannot escape it. That's the price I have to pay. Wish I could sneak out when everyone falls asleep.

No virtual meetings? I can tether my notebook PC to my mobile phone and you can hook up via video. Wink You might remember that Bryan of Puerto Rico and I were chatted online with Ariel in Israel while driving down I-5 in the middle of the night last December. The biggest problem is that the service speed is usually too slow in most rural areas. Sad
