I pruned my citrus plants to remove suckers from the rootstock and some dead branches. One of my satsuma tree had major damage on some large braches from squirells chewing the bark and girdling the branches and were removed. Should I use pruning compounds on the cut surface of these larger branches? I read on the internet years ago that pruning compounds are not necessary for citrus and may even be harmful.

Use absolutely nothing on pruning cuts on citrus. The tree will heal itself best when left alone. - Millet (1,021-)
