I had one orange on my Republic of Texas orange bush this year. The orange has a navel. This is somewhat unusual since the ROT orange is rather seedy and does not usually have navels. I haven't cut the orange yet so I may have more to report.
My questions:
If the orange has no seeds is this common?
Would this possibly be a spontaneous limb sport? _________________ Yadda

Don't know the answers to your specific questions, but my tangelo tree has had several fruits this year with navels. It may be a common mutation that was bred true in the navel oranges...
Its fruit this year has tended to be small, extremely juicy, and virtually seedless (new polllen donor this year?). |

I cut the the orange today and juiced it. The flesh was red (usually it is orange) and it had no seeds. I am marking the branch to watch for future fruit. _________________ Yadda

I had a Satsuma Mandarin off one of my trees this year that had a tiny "navel" , when peeled, there was indeed a tiny bit of juicy flesh inside this piece. |

Hi Jadda !
I would make an air layer or graft of that twig.
It surely is a bud mutation.
Same about all other twigs/branches with different fruits I would see. |

Is it possible that your Rep 'o TX tree was a mislabeled Cara Cara? Have you had any fruit from it before? _________________ Clayton
