I am wondering what type of containers are best for my indoor citrus. When I look through magazines of container citrus for sale some plants are in what I would call normal containers and some are in bonsai containers (the short square ones). i am a little confused on what is best for my plants. Since this is all new to me, I don't want to do something wrong and kill my citrus. Thanks to Millet I have the right potting mix, now all I need is the right pots.
TIA |

I like using the 4 x 14 when they are small then gradually go into the round 3 gallon then to 5 gallon . In my opinion the better growth is when the taproot gets a lot of room to grow. So the longer the better. _________________ South Texas gardener |

I strictly only use ONE TYPE of container -- Air Root Pruning Containers (ARPC), from the smallest 4 inch , up to 300+ gallon sized ARPC containers. - Millet (1065-) http://rootmaker.com/ |

Hi Millet, there are a few varieties of containers at that site (molded, expandable, fabric, etc) Which one do you use? I assume you purchase in bulk, are the type you purchase available in smaller qty to home gardeners?
Thanks |

I use both the expandable and the standard Air Root Pruning Containers (ARPC). I have read on this forum there are several places that sell in smaller quantities, but I do not know who they are. I only purchase from Root Maker. . Somewhere in the back of my mind, I think I remember that Root Maker lowered their minimum order size. You might call Root Maker on the phone and ask, what their minimum order size is, or if they have any dealers who sell in small quantities - Millet (1,061-) |

Does this go inside of another pot? Pardon my inexperience. My Meyer lemon is 7 years old and only lives inside (there isn't any place to put it outside - as I live in a condo). I have read many of your threads regarding needing proper aeration and I'm quite sure that I'm not getting that now. I would like to purchase an ARPC but the water would go everywhere. Suggestions? |

The hard sided molded ARPC drain water much like a common container. The expandable 100-ft. roll would have more of a problem as far the drainage water making a mess. It could, of course, be placed inside a larger decorative container. - Millet (980-) |
