Due to a very cool spring and summer in Colorado, the natural foods bears rely on have not yet developed. Normally at this time of year bears in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado enjoy eating the many types of berries, and other natural fruits. However, due to a record cold winter, and record snow fall, followed by very cool/cold spring weather, and a cool beginning of summer, berry producing bushes have not yet flowered, nor set fruit. Bears, hungry for food, have been coming into mountain towns, such Aspen, looking for something to eat. So far this year the Division of Wildlife have been forced to shoot 57 bears. Some have had to be killed for being 3 time offenders, others either attacked humans or have shown dangerous offensive behavior. - Millet
