Skeet,

I have used your "Inlay Bark Graft", where the scionwood was so small that it would have been swallowed up by the rootstock. It has been very effective was in grafting loquats to large rootstock. Loquats have thick bark. I simply cut the leaves of the scion in half and tape over the leaves and all. I put a rubberband where the scion needs to contact the rootstock, to hold it firmly in place. I had a picture but don't seem to be able to find it at the moment.
