Been loosing quite a few leaves recently, also spotted a couple of insects. I seem to have a hard sticky glue like substance on my branches. Have hosed the tree a few times and also sprayed with diluted washing up liquid but the leaves still fall.

On the branches there is also white hard blotches. Hope you can see in the photo's.

Please help.

Looks to me your tree is badly infected with scale, and needs to be sprayed with a horticultural oil such as UltraFine or Volk. - Millet

Millet, I could not find any hort oil here in UK, I found some bug spray that was for scale & mealy bug and diluted it and sprayed the whole tree. Is this advisable?

I have no idea what the product you purchased is, so I cannot say. The label should give the name of the ingredients, what are they? - Millet
