I have never grown a Papaya in a container. The Papaya's that I have grown were in raised beds in my greenhouse, and grew to approximately 1 foot tall and a foot wide by the age of a couple months after germination. Papaya's are tropical plants, therefore they do not like 50 degree weather. Does the soda bottle you have placed over your plant have holes in it to let CO2 in? Without CO2 a plant will not grow at all. I would bring the papaya indoors to a sunny location with 70F temperature. - Millet (1,156-)

Yes, its hard to see in the picture but they do have holes on the "feet" of the bottle. I just put the bottle over it a couple of days ago so it has been exposed to cooler weather for a longer time. I actually have three others planted at the same time but this one is the biggest. I have more seeds from the batch that I'll plant next spring. Hopefully they are still viable.

I have two trees from seed. The picture of the tree that I posted here is now about 4 feet tall. It hasn't produced any flowers though, so no fruit. I'll try and post pictures if I get a chance.

Here are the two trees now. You can see one of them when it was an inch tall a few posts up. Its about 11 months old now and probably just under four feet tall. Its never flowered before.

Sorry for the bad shot. Its very cramped up on my deck and I didn't have much space to back up to take a good picture.

If you're wondering, that is a Cherimoya seedling in the soda bottle self watering greenhouse I made to the right of the trees.

Mine are in 5 gallon pots. I probably should transplant them into bigger pots.

Hilltop,
I read that papayas don't transplant very well, so take extra care Smile
