I have collected together a few more pictures connected to the original Washington Navel Orange Trees from which all others are descended.

Thanks, Mike. The Washington Navel orange is so much a part of my growing up in both Orange County (right next to Riverside County, and absolutely covered with commercial navel orange orchards, hence the name) and when we moved to Riverside County a little later in life. I lived right around the corner from the UC Rivrside Citrus Collection, and the Parent tree. Really fun to read about this. Just about everyone in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties has a navel orange tree in their backyard Smile

Citrus Joe and I have visited the site of the Parent Washington Orange tree the day after we visited with Dr. Kruger (directer of the Citrus Clonal Protection Program (CCPP)) and the UCR Variety Collection. There are many hundreds of thousands of automobiles that rush pass the tree every day. The street traffic passes within 10 feet of the tree. However, that is not unusual for Southern California, with people back to back to back. - Millet

Yup, it's on a very busy street in Riverside. Seems weird to have such a priceless tree so close to a million car bumpers Crying or Very sad But, I think at this point, the tree probably would not withstand another move. So, there is stays.
