Hi,

Beside my potted citruses I also have a kumquat inground. It is a healthy tree but it hasn't bloomed for a long time until last week.Last week I give some fertilizer to the ground and it bloomed hundreds of new flowers Smile

It looks really beautiful but I noticed a problem on some leaves, I am pasting a photo below.

What are these, why did it happen, do you have any idea?

Thanks,

Meyer,
Where were these leaves located on the tree? I am thinking maybe you got fertilizer on them? Just a thought.

Thanks Darren,

Not a particular part, I see this problem on many leaves on the tree and the light colored, problemeatic shape is same on all the leaves.

I agree with Darren, but if not fertilizer burn, it could be sunburn. Have you sprayed the tree with anything?

Thanks Skeeter,

People say it is sunburn because neighbours have the same problem and it is really hot here.I guess that is the problem Sad

What part of the country are you in? If you want you can put a shade cloth over the tree-- citrus max out their photosynthetic production at about 1/3 the intensity of natural sunlight.

The only problem with the sunburn theory, I think is....wouldn't it just be the leaves on the top or outside? And wouldn't it be the WHOLE leaf? Not just parts. I do like the spray anything else on it theory. Oil, Insecticide or ???
When you say other leaves, are they on the same side, through out the whole tree or sporadic?

Thanks for your replies;

@Skeeter, I live in South Turkey, not in US.This shading idea is good, I will try to put a cloth on sticks covering the tree.It is not a big tree so it will be easy I guess.

@Cactusrequiem, Actually, there is not much problem on top or whole leaves.Bottom leaves surrounding the tree have the problem.
I wish I took a photo of the whole tree instead of leaves.

As I know nothing is sprayed on the tree, I asked the gardeners if they sprayed anything but the answer is "no".

If I have a chance to visit the farm soon I will take a new photo, plus I will try to cover it as Skeeter recommended.

But I see this is not a main problem because of a missing nutrient, right?

Thanks,

Meyer,
I don't think it's a missing nutrient, usually that would cause a symetrical decay. i.e. straight down the midrib, or the outer edges or leaf tips. These seem to be odd and no definite pattern. Maybe just natural leaf loss.
Sorry, wish I could help more. Just keep an eye on it, if it gets worst, let us know.
Darren
