Does using Volkameriana with Meyers result in especially large fruit and a tendency for fruit to be more spherical?
Thanks,

Extra large, yes. But it would surprise me if the change in shape were a rootstock effect.

Should produce a large tree, somewhat larger fruit size, with a higher fruit yield, but lower fruit quality then with other rootstocks. Volkamer also is poor against freezes. Have no idea about changing shape of the fruit. What is the pH of your soil where you will plant the tree? - Millet (129-)

Thanks for the answers

This was just a tree (several, actually) I spotted at a nursery. I had, and have, no intention of buying it due to what I had heard of Volkamer's tendency to increase cold sensitivity and its negative effect on fruit quality, but was just curious about the quite substantial effect it had on the size and shape of the fruit - at first I assumed the rootstock had overgrown the scion, but this was definitely not the case.
