This semi ripe orange fruit, which dropped, should've been tree's first crop along with one more fruit still hanging on the tree.
What could've gone wrong with my container grown washington navel orange?
I'm really desperate. I don't know if it is up to me or simply yet another fruit selection, which would have eventually happened, sooner or later.
Any pointers will be appreciated. Thanks for suggestions in advance.

hey laaz thanks for the link, a lot of useful stuff could be found there.

today i cut open the fruit and took few pics.

although it seemed to be pretty firm and semi ripe from outside, inside of the fruit was soft and looking great, with an exception...

this might be the reason of premature fruit drop, however the taste of the rest of the fruit was incredible...
a unique mix of sweet and tart citrus flavor. probably the best i have ever tasted. definitely. Razz

I think I've figured out the reason of its premature drop. I'm now almost 100% sure that it was a Phytophthora.
Since the tree was in decline from that day. Could anyone confirm this?

Navel orange with rot lesion (possibly due to root rot?)

And sorry for bumping this thread up.

Thanks,
Igor
