I have a new small lemon tree (variety unknown). It is producing flowers right now. I checked all the open flowers and none of them have female parts. This is disappointing because I'd like some home grown lemons to eat and I was hoping to make some hybrids with Meyer lemon pollen (the only other citrus in bloom at the moment). Sorry no pics available as I currently don't have a camera.

Anyone know the reason why this is happening? Is there a solution to the problem?

This is not all that unusual for lemon, especially for very young trees. However, there should certainly be some complete flowers.. - Millet

Thanks for the replies. More flowers have opened up, still no female parts. That's about 10 flowers so far with no female parts. There are another 5 to 10 flowers still developing, I hope some of those will be complete. The tree has a spider mite infestation which I'm treating, would the stress of this cause incomplete flowers?

The label merely says "citrus lemon", but I suspect it is the '4 seasons lemon' aka Lunario.
