What is with this? If you look in the middle of each picture you will see 2 different stems that have/are turning brown. There are a few others that this is happening to also.

Thanks

I have a few of those especially from my older more mature trees. They seem to be natural. It is usually those branches that have some physical injuries on them, caused by insects or our handling, then attacked by fungus, or simply the branch is shaded too much that the tree decided to reallocate its nutrients from those and divert them to younger vigorous growing parts, and so those branches die off naturally.

You can prune those off, make sure to sterilize your pruners with 70% isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) before and after pruning them off. Then swab with hydrogen peroxide the areas of cut (close to the trunk), and let dry and cover the cut portion with latex paint.

This happens not only on my citrus but to all of my plants as well.
I thought nothing of it.
I figured whatever this plant need not want it will toss it away.
It also happens to animal siblings, those that are weak dies or the bigger and more healthy ones toss the weaker ones out of the nest.
I guess it is the natural phenom preservation of the species.

Thanks. I'm glad that it is a normal/natural thing. I was worried that I was doing something wrong all of a sudden, although I have not changed anything in my routine.

Ben, The camera I use is a Nikon CoolPix, 3.2 Megapixel. I bought it in March 2004 at Best Buy. I Love the camera.

Thanks
