I got thinking about something odd today and was wondering if somebody could answer THIS one?
I am getting a Razzlequat soon, so I will use it for demonstration purposes.

A Razzlequat is an Eremocitrus glauca X Citrus limon 'Meyer'

The question is, When plants have been crossed...is there a specific order they are put in?
i.e. Is the Eremocitrus glauca the pollen provider or the flower that was pollinized?
Whatever the answer is, is it an industry standard?

Or to put in simple terms, is the mommy listed first or the daddy?

I have too much time while on the road sometimes! LOL
Darren

Correctly, mommy is always first. Of course many folks don't know that, so you can't always trust the way a cross is listed, but if they know what they're doing, it should always be female x male.

Ok, Thanks MM!
Now, to really try to screw my brain up.
I am thinking about playing around with hybridizations.
If, lets say, I want to cross a Sanquineli Blood Orange for the Color, but want the size of a Ponderosa Lemon...which would I use the Female Flower of?
I guess I am asking if there is an order of what genetics I want and what flower should be used for which.
I am also thinking about playing with a Calamondin for the cold Hardiness and a Sanquineli for the color.
Thanks for all help!
Darren

Hi Darren,
I am not an expert, but one of the first things that comes to me is that it will be easier if the "female" is one of the varieties that does not grow true from seed--one that is more likely to produce zygotic offspring instead of nucellar seeds.
