Helo all together,
I am glad to tell you that a great step in the citrus science could be done.
Until now it was be considered as impossible to cross Poncirus trifoliata as mother with Citrus ichangensis as father.
I knew this but I don't know to this time that the corss of Citrus ichangensis as mother with Poncirus trifoliata as father is possible.
My intention was to this time, as a conclusion of a citrrus meeting with some citrus enthusiasts, to cross the "Citrus Klee leaf!.
After this meeting I thought, it is a good Idea and I tried this. Because I had a big poncirus and a little Citrus ichangensis I tried only the pollination of Poncirus flowers.
In the year 2000 after many impossible crossing tries I get one fruit with about 5 seeds, and from this 5 seeds one seedling showed really a hybrid vigor.
This plant now has a height of 1 m . The frost hardiness is not tested up to now, I will do this togethjer with some friends in the next years.
This hybrid will give a new point of view in the citrus science and may be also new possibilities for the future, considering root stocks, hardy citrus, hardy evergreen hedge plants and so on.
