So a couple of weeks ago I planted some grocery store lemons just for fun. I know I probably won't see fruit, but I just wanted to try. I had two out of three seeds germinate. The first one was a single plant, which disappointed me as it wasn't polyembryonic. The second plant, however, seemed to germinate two trees. I was pretty excited. However! I tried to seperate them yesterday and simply couldn't do it. It was like they were fused together. I pulled the seedling up, figuring I could try and seperate their roots first. .. but there was only a single root system. I've grown a couple of different citrus from seed and haven't seen anything like it.
Could anyone tell me if this is one plant that simply looks like two, or if two plants somehow became fused together... or what? I tried to get some pics of them entwined together, but my camera REFUSED to focus on it.
